About Landon Caldwell
Landon Caldwell is a multi-disciplinary artist and composer based in Indianapolis. His works are immersive, and include sound art, sculpture, print, poetry, and film. His artworks explore the environment, family, and class while revealing hidden layers of reality.
He’s also a prolific, collaborative musician. He’s toured extensively across the US, Canada, and Europe. Together with Indianapolis musician Mark Tester, he curates and runs music label Medium Sound, a focal point of adventurous music in Indianapolis.
Landon’s immersive art installations have been exhibited at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, The Terminal Kyoto, the Indiana State Museum, and more.
Check out Landon’s work here, like a short animated film called Symbiotic Hum, the film score for Dear Friend, an immersive interactive sound experience called A House is Alive with Sound, and his newest collaborative album 'Homes'.
“Growing up [in Elwood], I never imagined that being an artist could be a career. It wasn’t until adulthood that I realized it was possible—and now, as a practicing artist in Indianapolis, I often wish someone had shown me that path earlier. I want to be that person for others,” says Landon. “Tipton and this part of Indiana remain deeply dear to me, and the opportunity to contribute artistically to the community is especially meaningful.”
Landon will lead numerous arts experiences in our community this summer, culminating in an artful short film. There are many ways to learn something new and contribute to the film. Learn about upcoming events on the Tipton Community Calendar, the Tipton County Public Library, and the Tipton Public Arts Commission Facebook page.
Activities include storytelling, a sound walk, animating a ‘quilt’, creating collaborative music, and more. Landon will also lead workshops for the Boys and Girls Club teen summer program and special events with the Encore Lifestyle & Enrichment Center community.
As Tipton gears up to explore more public art in the community, this summer’s visiting artist allows us to explore new kinds of creativity and to celebrate our community’s story. This opportunity is led by the Tipton Public Arts Commission and is funded by the Indiana Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts.
